Giovanna and her mom came in for a birthday celebration shoot. It was winter, Chicago still half frozen, snow lingering on the sidewalks in that stubborn late season way.

The kind of day you'd think would slow a shoot down, except it didn't. Not with her.

Her mom is Brazilian (and so am I, surpriseee) which meant the session had that familiar warmth built in before we even picked up the camera.

We started joking about the cold we were NOT made for just to break the ice between us (see what i did there) then there was her modeling and GIIIRRRL let me tell you... the biggest surprise of the day.

This diva moved like she'd been in front of a camera her whole life. She was serving looks, angles, posture, she found all of it with little to no direction.

Looking back at the frames, you'd swear you were flipping through a fancy editorial... and she's so young! Which only makes it more impressive.

This session still sits as one of my favorite shoots to date. If she ever decides to pursue modeling seriously, I'll be first in line to shoot her again.
